REMOTE CONTROL TECHNOLOGY PROVIDES A WIRELESS SOLUTION TO SIMONS PETROLEUM.

Simons Petroleum required a simple wireless solution using a hand-held control to wirelessly control petroleum service vehicles.

Redmond, WA - January 19, 2011 - Remote Control Technology (RCT) was tasked with developing a simple wireless hand-held control that could automate Simons Petroleum’s commercial petroleum service vehicles.

Simons Petroleum's service vehicles were originally equipped with a 2.4GHz wireless hand-held system from a different vendor. The problem with this system was that it did not provide satisfactory operating range in locations where line of sight was not available. This problem incurred because with a 2.4GHz frequency, line of sight is critical in long-range communication.

Simons Petroleum needed a hand-held wireless solution to operate two on-vehicle petroleum pumps and to retract the hose reels off the service vehicles. This provides the operator wireless control of the petroleum pumps on the vehicle as a safety measure to prevent injury to the operator.

The solution provided by Remote Control Technology was to replace the 2.4GHz system with a 27MHz 4-Channel Hand-Held Unit. The RCT 4-Channel Hand-Held Unit provides a four button heavy-duty hand-held transmitter and a heavy-duty receiver with four relay outputs. With the 27MHz frequency line of site is not necessary, thus allowing Simons Petroleum a operational system at all times and locations.

After extensive range and operational testing Simons Petroleum is very satisfied with the 4-Channel Hand-Held solution provided by Remote Control Technology. The system is installed in the petroleum vehicles and allows the operator wireless control of the petroleum pumps and hose reels. Simons Petroleum is currently in the process of retrofitting the entire fleet of commercial petroleum service vehicles.

Over the course of Remote Control Technology's 30 years, it has extensive experience designing custom wireless solutions for small businesses to Fortune 500 companies. Some of the more well-known companies that RCT has worked with are: Boeing, L3 Communications, Northrop Grumman, Laser Guidance, Stoneway Cement, Ford, Puget Sound Energy, SAIC, US Army Corps of Engineers, and Raytheon. Remote Control Technology takes pride in its ability to design and complete wireless solutions from simple to complex applications.
